This behavior has been observed on Mac OS X 10.8.5, but it might also occur on other versions too.

The issue occurs only if Generic Security Service Application Program Interface (GSSAPI) authentication is enabled.

This type of authentication is most common if the system you push to has been joined to a domain.

This issue has been observed only on the Server version of the MAC OS X.

The client system can be provided with updates of the virus definitions files, patches and hotfixes and programm updates for the installed McAfee products.

With the help of the McAfee agent the administrators are able to monitor on a central console all their managed systems allowing them to see the status and configuration of the antivirus software.

Only this version is compatible to the current management server 5.X.

The management server is not directly available from the internet.

Currently this service is only available for Windows, MacOS, and Linux.

Further McAfee software can then be installed and managed via the anti-virus management console.

The installation of the anti-virus software will be carried out automatically within one hour of installing the McAfee agent software as long as the system is connected to the KIT network.

Updates of the virus defintion files (DATAMCore files) will be provided directly from McAfee.

Software updates (hotfixes and patches and newer versions of the software) will have to be manually installed.
